The Cure or Adele?

"Lovesong" was recorded in 1989 by UK's alternative rock band, The Cure. The song received plenty of radioplay and success in the United States. It was also one of my favorites during my high school days.

She has DONE it again!

Who?

MADONNA

I've been a fan of the "Queen of Pop" since her first album came out in 1983. That would make me 7 years old and in the 2nd grade. My family and close friends can definitely vouch for that. (Confession: Growing up, I'd often sing Madonna songs for fun, at family parties, and performed a couple of them (or maybe 3) on stage for the Indian community in Houston, TX.) Don't worry, I chose the "most appropriate" ones to sing to my audience.

Katy Perry, an American singer and songwriter, is a favorite among tweens, teens, and adults.

Considering I'm not a devoted fan of Katy Perry, the song, "Who Am I Living For?" is one that stands out for me. Though it's not one of her popular songs, it reminds me of strong female protagonists in young adult novels I've read. Think "Katniss" in The Hunger Games, "Katsa" in Graceling, "Harry Crewe (Harimad-sol)" in The Blue Sword.
