Who doesn't know the talented R&B singer and performing artist, Beyoncé Knowles? Born and raised in Houston, Texas (which happens to be my hometown), Beyoncé has worked hard and surpassed all odds to make her dream a reality.

"I Was Here," from her most recent album, is an upliftng ballad about the desire to be remembered, to live on even after death. It's about leaving one's legacy behind in order to set a positive example for others. Our personal drives allow us to seek fulfillment in our own lives. It is then that we create a legacy for others to remember.

The Power of Voice, The Power of Words

What does it mean to have voice? It refers to having strong opinions, values, and beliefs. When someone speaks passionately about a topic, the audience listens carefully and takes a mental note of it, in the same way, readers read carefully and take notes in a journal. When a strong voice draws us in, we channel the words through our own being and experience deep listening. We are left with a lasting impression. That is power.

It was a "Beautiful Day" in Seattle, WA. The U2 Concert was held at the open-air Qwest Field stadium with views of the downtown skyline. I was seated in Section 335, Row L, Seat 15. All this time I was thinking, "I've been a fan for so long. Why didn't I purchase the more expensive tickets and see them up close?" However, it was all worth it. The concert was unbelieveable—the spectacular stage lights, the props, and special guest Lenny Kravitz to kick-off the show.

I'm going to begin this post by introducing "musical form," which refers to the structure or design of a musical work. So, what is the function of form in music? It allows the listener to understand the arrangement of a song. Certain details are repeated while others add an element of contrast to the musical piece. Repetition provides the natural human need for the familiar—the recurring theme. What gives a song its uniqueness is the seamless weaving of the central idea.
